Danika Holmes is the Montana DNRC's Upper Missouri Regional Water Planner and is based in Bozeman. Danika's career at DNRC began in the Water Rights Bureau, and as a planner she works with non-profit watershed groups, conservation districts, cities/towns/counties, and other government agencies to create, update, and implement water management plans that are driven by local needs. Danika has a B.S. in Environmental Studies, B.S. in Geography, and GIS Certificate in Remote Sensing Analysis from the University of Utah, and an M.S. in Earth Sciences from Montana State University. Her graduate research focused on exploring natural water storage as a drought and flood adaptation strategy to address shifting human and environmental water needs in Montana. She continues nurturing her interest in water from geomorphological, socioeconomic, and ecological lenses, and fostering a well-rounded understanding of our favorite resource.
